Who is CLI Compass for?
Pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade teachers, principals, literacy coaches and families.
How do I get started?
- Register for an account at CLIcompass.org
- Check out the resources on My Dashboard. Resources include anchor tools, useful guides, videos and a personalized action plan for implementing effective practices.
- Click Find an Effective Practice.
- Start the eight step learning process to implement the effective practice.
- Continue to build an action plan by selecting other effective practices. Check out the My Learning tab for a view of recent activity and completed topics.
What can I do on CLI Compass? (Learn more about the benefits in the Q & A section on CLI Compass.)
- Explore the complete list of effective practices for quality literacy environments and instruction.
- Experience what effective classrooms look, sound and feel like.
- Review the research, Common Core Standards and children’s and professional books that align with effective practices.
- Reflect by creating action steps to improve and enhance environment and instruction.
- Access tools that will help implement the practices of effective literacy environments with students in the classroom.
- Develop, revise and update an action plan for creating, managing and maintaining classroom environment and instruction.
- Connect with others to share tips and tools and discuss implementation and action plans.
Where did CLI start? What’s coming next?
- Environment is the foundation for effective instruction. Two learning modules are available right now: Literacy Environment and Classroom Culture. Seven instructional learning modules are coming next, starting with Message Time Plus® Learning Module (1/2013) and Intentional Read Aloud Module (4/2013)
- CLI Model ClassroomTM teachers will have access to networks (9/2012)
- All users will be able to have discussions about effective practices (9/2012)
